Rahaan Holliday - 14 years old, native to the village of Reskevel near the port of Ruga. Rahaan was born with four arms and horns, but in Symphenia, these are practically par for the course; nearly one person in twenty (at least, around the Ruga area) has extra limbs of some sort, and horns are about as common. Rahaan is an apprentice phenist; phenists work with the basic building blocks of reality (called phenes) to transform things and people. They mostly behave like doctors, although they do have a reptation in some areas of being mad monster-makers. Rahaan is insatiably curious, and like most teenagers, believes himself to be destined for greatness.
Lenmele Rúu (often just Rúu) - A water-mage in her mid-20s from the distant land of Kaolin. She is unfailingly polite, and has a decent if awkward command of the language spoken in Ruga. Her companion maginaria, a sleek black fish-shaped one that can control small-to-medium-sized volumes of water, is named Drench.
??? - Rúu met a strange creature in her travels on the road to Reskevel; the creature attacked Drench but left her alone. Who or what this is remains to be seen.
Dr. Monz Halhaw - Rahaan's master, a fairly serious phenist who serves as a sort of country doctor for Reskevel and other small towns in the vicinity.
Captain J. Matthias - A kindly old sea captain who runs a successful trade and shipping business, mostly thanks to his own skill as a wind-mage. His maginaria, Swirl, resembles a six-winged bird with crystalline eyes.
Dr. Nimbec - Librarian of the Reskevel Phenists' Guild. Originally from the city of Desái in Almanaque, he fled the country (along with many of his fellow Manaqi) when civil war threatened to break out. His job at the Guild keeps him safely behind a counter, cataloging the guild's extensive collection of phenes and performing the intricate operations to make phene copies for the Guild members.
